Ever since Eminem came out everyone has been looking for the next great white rapper. A few have came out and tried to pick up that mantle, i.e, Paul Wall and *crickets* yea I have no idea. It’s been pretty much Em and a few other people who may have made some noise here and there but no one with substance to sustain or truly create a career in Hip Hop. But that all seems to be changing with Mac Miller who not only can rap his ass off but is gaining respect from some of the top Hip Hop heads out now. Check out the track he has below produced by DJ Premier.
BTW who the hell get a track from Premier and doesn’t even have a debut album out yet? I’m still waiting on a Nas or Jay-Z track with Premier, it’s been years since we’ve gotten one of those, but I digress.
I can’t say I was sold on the kid from the beginning. I always saw music from him on other sites and always just over looked it “another white rapper, another kid trying to be Eminem” but I finally gave in and downloaded his mixtape Best Day Ever and was hooked after that. Two of my favorite tracks off the mixtape are the title track “best day ever and wear my hat” which were the real reasons why I downloaded the album in the first place. To be honest the mixtape reminded me so much of Ems debut album The Slim Shady LP, just without the psycho mom and babymamma hating tone to it. That’s a major difference in the two rappers, Mac seems to be on very good terms with his mother and doesn’t have a baby mother he wants to tie up and put in the trunk lol. When you listen to both artist the two things you see that they have in common is that they’re both white and rap better than a lot of black rappers. From there they’re two different rappers like Kanye and Common are different from each other.
